Three's Company
Shows I was watching in the seventies is my theme for the A-Z challenge this April.
Come and knock on our door...
Maybe it seemed like a fun idea, at first, to live in the same building as Jack, Janet and Chrissy, but then you'd have to deal with the cantankerous Stanley Roper and creepy Larry. Although Helen Roper's flair for fashion might have been worth it. (No.) Ralph Furley's style was even better. (No.)
As a young girl with brown hair, I felt like I should have been Team Janet. They made Chrissy seem like so much more fun though, in that dumb as a box of rocks way. Sure she paved the way for brighter corn silk-haired gal Terri, but not before her cousin Cindy moved in for a bit. I did have moments where I thought it would be nice to be bright like Janet, but a better strategy might have been to seek a different show for role models altogether.
Go on, take a step that is new!

You know I didn't find out till I was an adult that Jack was supposed to be pretending he was gay on the show b/c he was living with the two girls? I watched this show when I was a kid because there was nothing else on, but honestly, I never really liked it. I was never a fan of the jiggly boob and tight clothes thing, Chrissy was such an airhead and I thought John Ritter was a big time cheesy over actor. His exaggerated pratfalls didn't make me laugh at all.
ReplyDeleteI used to LOVE this show!
ReplyDeleteAnd had no idea it was FULL of sexual innuendo.
I miss your comments on my blog, by the way,
I watched that show Every. Single. Day.
ReplyDeleteSo sad for Jack's early death. This was a really fun show, and I remember the land lord really well.
ReplyDeleteOoh, a not very interesting tidbit, but Three's Company was actually a remake of a British sit-com called 'Man About The House'.
ReplyDeleteDo I get a prize for knowing that? Sadly, I will never know as I haven't actually been able to receive any comments from you. :(
I actually DO have a prize for you!!! Obviously it will be a huge secret surprise if you are not seeing this! (Nobody said anything about exciting, mind you, just secret)
DeleteIs the prize a pretty white box with hot cocoa packets in it?
DeleteI'm all tied up with The Soundtrack of My Life, so I don't see room for a HERE'S TO YOU on the horizon, BUT if there was I'd give you this...

I never saw that show, but because everyone talked about it and I read articles on it, I was able to write an essay about it for a college class. I think we had to review a TV show, and I couldn't think of any so I chose something popular.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I always watched the show but Chrissy was never my favorite. Too ditzy for me. I did love the Ropers, they were a hoot!
ReplyDeleteOh no. that song. Totally going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the night... I was WAY too young to know there were any innuendi (?) being thrown around on that show. What a funny thing. I hadn't thought about Three's Company in years..
ReplyDeleteOnly six more letters to go!

Visiting from A/Z :) I love the theme of your challenge; how cute! I remember watching a lot of these shows in the 1970s too. Does that make us old?
ReplyDeletebetty
I loved Three's Company and watched it later in the 80's or 90's when it came out on reruns - the Ropers were too funny! -http://50andfabulousblog.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLike you, Andrea, I flipped between the smart and the pretty - why couldn't they feature a girl with both! LOL Oh yeah, then there wouldn't be a show!
ReplyDeleteThis is one I watched and laughed at and with! There were some really funny moments.
