L is for...

[The] Loveboat

Shows I was watching in the seventies is my theme for the A-Z challenge this April.

Hey, come aboard! We've been expecting you.
I am sure I am not the only person to have had the thought "Who do you think I am, Julie McCoy, your cruise director". Oh that lucky Julie McCoy, surrounding by such dashing men, including a doctor. I did not necessarily have a favorite amongst them, as they each had their merits. How about taking the best of each: Doc being a doctor, Gopher being a go-fer (as in get me this and that), Captain Stubing's sense of direction, and Isaac with a drink and a smile at the ready.

I am sure avid watchers had their own favorite guest stars. Did you read who was on the episode this opening was taken from? Sherman Hemsley, John Ritter AND Jacklyn Smith? Well somebody was going to fall into, and out of, and back into love! One of my favorite passengers was Charo! "Cuchi-cuchi!"

In the late seventies, the closest I could get to being Julie McCoy was this rad outfit and my cousin "crew".
I have no other words, as this photo has completely taken me away!

  4. I think we all wanted to be Julie McCoy. She seemed to have the most glamorous job. And didn't we all dream that we would be invited to sit at the Captain's Table?

  6. I really loved this show. It was always so exciting to see what "stars" would be making an appearance. I liked Fantasy Island for the same reason. Now they don't make shows like this... instead we suffer with reality TV. Uggghhh.

    1. Yes. Fantasy Island was awesome too, although sometimes a little creepy for me then.

  10. When I was 11 I got lost in the desert at night for 9 hours. My main concern that night... I was missing "A Very Special" episode of The Love Boat. Man that sucked. LOL
