For those who celebrate

Happy National Bad Poetry Day! Luckily my husand keeps track of these important days. I am not proud that I let National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day go by without proper recognition, and I certainly do not want to have any regrets tomorrow morning. Should it have hurt my feelings that my husband asked if I wanted to read some of my bad poetry to celebrate the day? Maybe, but instead I was touched that he thought of me and my little fabric covered book of wonders.

I know I have gone to this well before, so I want to make sure to share something never before revealed here on the blog. I am nearly positive that these gems (take two, they're small) have only been shared with the object of my affection they were written for back in the fall of 1986...nearly 40 years ago!? Let the cringe begin!

9/18/86
I know where I am
Yet I'm lost
Lost in my thoughts of you.
Dreaming of when
Our paths last crossed
Now you've escaped from view.

I'm surrounded by people
Yet I'm lonely
Longing to have you near.
Come back soon
If only
So I can whisper in your ear...
...I love you

10/22/86
Laugh and I will laugh
Right along with you
For knowing that you're happy
Makes me feel warm inside too.

Cry and I'll cry
Right along with you
For knowing that you're hurting
Makes me also feel blue

Love and I'll love
Right along with you
For this bond of love we've made
Will last forever true!

[Spoiler: It did not]

I hope these brought you a little chuckle. The squirm for me is not that I wrote these, but how incredible I thought they were at the time!
