…Karate Kid 2
Soundtracks That Mattered (to me) is my theme for the A-Z Challenge this April.
This selection is in no way meant to disregard the benefits of "wax on, wax off" from the first Karate Kid movie, but remember, my theme is about the music. Without the Glory of Love, who knows what song teenage couples would have deemed an appropriate anthem in the summer of 1986. Talk of honor and heroes? Tough to beat. (Plus, there is that den-den daiko scene. Thank you, google, for knowing what I was talking about!)
I never even saw the first KK till a few years ago!
ReplyDeleteOK, but at least you saw it!
DeleteI was SOOOOO in love with Ralph Macchio. Loved both the Karate Kid movies and this was definitely one of my favourite songs from the soundtrack. Gonna play it on a loop whilst I practice waxing on and waxing off.
ReplyDeleteHe was soooo dreamy!
DeleteAh. Mr. Miyagi approves.

Great job on your theme! Keep it going!

It's almost housefly season...grab your chopsticks!
DeleteThe Karate Kid was a great film of inspiration.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great story!
DeleteHey, I just watched the original Karate Kid over the weekend, and I immediately thought of the second move and The Glory of Love. There must have been so many proms with this song as its theme that year.
ReplyDeleteOh for sure!
Deletesuch a good film back in the day. Was not thinking about the soundtrack, but Peter Cetera was everywhere.
ReplyDeletePeter with and without Chicago!
DeleteGreat music, but I almost like the soundtrack from the first one better.
ReplyDeleteGlory of love carried this one for me.
DeleteI'd forgotten that song. It's very pretty and romantic. The romance in my life comes from my love affair with Franklin and Penelope. Willy Dunne Wooters is not romantic, and he's definitely not the heroic type. He thinks declaring one's love is stupid and trite. Why do I put up with him? Oh, yeah, I just remembered. You don't want to know the answer!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Bow chicka wow wow!
DeleteLove The Karate Kid and the Glory of Love. Now we're back on track:)
ReplyDeletePhew! I was getting nervous!
DeleteI only saw those movies once and I forgot The Glory of Love was even in that. Made me smile.
ReplyDeleteSusan Says
YES! I have the sheet music and I love that song!!
ReplyDelete-andi
So soon you'll post a video of you playing it, right?
DeleteOh, this film, I loved this film when it came out. The romance, the martial arts - it hit all the right buttons for me at the time and Peter Cetera - who doesn't love Peter Cetera? :)

ReplyDeleteI couldn't find your soundtrack!!!! I assume Don't You Forget About Me is on it (and have an image of you raising your fist in the air)
DeleteI thought Ralph Macchio was the cutest when I was a bit younger! And the Glory of Love is still an awesome song.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to him anyway?
