…Eddie and the Cruisers
Soundtracks That Mattered (to me) is my theme for the A-Z Challenge this April.
This is another one of those movies that I probably only saw once, but the thrill lived on for me in the form of an overplayed cassette tape. The general plot of the movie is vaguely familiar, while the lyrics are still crystal clear.
I was in the beginning stages of loving Bruce Springsteen, and thought this sounded close. That is not to say that I didn't think John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band sounded super swell just on their own. In the name of nostalgia, I have to include this one as well...
I remember when those songs were popular too. He definitely sounded like Springsteen.
ReplyDeletePhew! It wasn't just me! :)
DeleteTheir songs remind me of summer.
ReplyDeleteThat is all I have.
Screenplay writing and all.
Its good there are some reminders of summer, as it certainly isn't this weather! Write on...right on!
DeleteI remember finding this movie SO haunting when I was a kid. I tried to watch it recently and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered.
ReplyDeleteAw man! I was thinking about watching it, but fear disappointment. Yes, haunting!
DeleteI remember this and had to pass. I like artists that go for their distinct sound and not copy someone. Except Rain. Awesome Beatles cover band.
ReplyDeleteI was young and easily enchanted :)
DeleteColor me stupid. I'm pretty sure I always thought this was a Springsteen song...
ReplyDeleteBut I've never much cared for Springsteen, and maybe that's why I didn't pay attention.
Can we still be friends?

Wait. Who are you?
DeleteI remember this one - all cheesy but so good. I'm fine with imitation Bruce....
ReplyDeleteOn The Dark Side... loved that song! Did this band ever do another album??? If so, I don't recall it.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my friend google, it looks like they had songs in other movies!
DeleteI have heard this movie talked about my entire life and somehow have never seen it. I'm adding it to my Netflix queue now.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think of it!
DeleteHaven't seen this one, but you're the second person I've seen mention it and the music, so it definitely must have something going for it :)

Worth a watch or at least a listen.
DeleteI do remember this movie, but I don't think I ever saw it. Or heard the soundtrack. Love "On The Dark Side."
ReplyDeletePut it on your rainy day list
DeleteI remember this movie back in the glory days of HBO! Good times, great oldies!
ReplyDeleteRemember how cool HBO seemed?
DeleteSuch a curious movies, but I do remember it and the music was great!

Such longing...
DeleteI seem to recall the sequel more. I did see this movie. The songs were very '60s. I've not heard good things about the sequel, but for some reason I liked it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the sequel...hmmm!
DeleteThanks for the recommendation! Great songs x www.xoxomake.com
ReplyDeleteExcellent choice!
ReplyDeleteHe was cute, too.
