D is for...

…Dirty Dancing

Soundtracks That Mattered (to me) is my theme for the A-Z Challenge this April.

Oh...this...1987? I had fallen in love - HARD. Head over heels, the sort of mind in the clouds state where Wipeout should have been playing while I walked around, especially going up stairs. You got that? All of these songs. All. Of. Them. I had the time of my life, and that guy totally pulled me out of the corner. Maybe swimming pools are not as well suited as secluded lakes for practicing overhead lifts, but how could you not try? Somehow that seemed less intimidating than the rest of the dance moves.

I am sure you can get the love theme stuck in your head without any help from me, so instead I offer this...
Luckily, for those of us who may have been a tad bit obsessed with this soundtrack, and movie, they released More Dirty Dancing!
When one cassette ended, I just put in the other. My mind is darting all around right now with a battle between Hungry Eyes and this extra bonus for you...
Now you go on and have yourself an amazing day!

  4. YES!!!!! One of my favorite movies and soundtracks ever! This is a DVD I pull out and watch on a very regular basis. Makes me sad tho...since Patrick is gone. He was so delicious. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Your mention of Patrick's deliciousness has me thinking about the Chippendales SNL skit with Chris Farley...for no good reason, but please tell me you've seen it!

  5. This is one where I fell in love with the soundtrack before the movie.
In fact, I never saw the movie in the theater when I was a senior in high school but rather the following summer on video.
It is one of my favorite guilty pleasures and takes me back to a time when I was young, skinny, tan and in young-love.

  9. Great choice! Seeing as they're now back in vogue, I bought a record player a few months ago and have been brainwashing Spawn with my vinyl collection ever since. I kinda flip between which album I prefer, but Spawn loves the oldies on the second one.

  12. I had both soundtracks, too! They "introduced" me to Otis Redding. I thought I would lose my v-card to "These Arms Of Mine." Ha! That didn't happen :) Great post!

  13. I worked at the movie theater where this was showing the summer before my senior year, so it brings good memories for me for a variety of reasons! The summer after my senior year (while still working at the theater) a group of us from the theater went to the Dirty Dancing concert when it came to town.

  15. I'm sure you remember that we were in a car accident on the way home from seeing the movie due to a blizzard that occurred while we were in the theater. No one was injured other than the can so totally worth it!!!
