E is for...

…Eddie and the Cruisers

Soundtracks That Mattered (to me) is my theme for the A-Z Challenge this April.

This is another one of those movies that I probably only saw once, but the thrill lived on for me in the form of an overplayed cassette tape. The general plot of the movie is vaguely familiar, while the lyrics are still crystal clear.
I was in the beginning stages of loving Bruce Springsteen, and thought this sounded close. That is not to say that I didn't think John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band sounded super swell just on their own. In the name of nostalgia, I have to include this one as well...

  1. I remember when those songs were popular too. He definitely sounded like Springsteen.

    That is all I have.

  3. I remember finding this movie SO haunting when I was a kid. I tried to watch it recently and it wasn't quite as good as I remembered.

    1. Aw man! I was thinking about watching it, but fear disappointment. Yes, haunting!

  4. I remember this and had to pass. I like artists that go for their distinct sound and not copy someone. Except Rain. Awesome Beatles cover band.

  5. Color me stupid. I'm pretty sure I always thought this was a Springsteen song...

But I've never much cared for Springsteen, and maybe that's why I didn't pay attention.

    Can we still be friends?

  9. Haven't seen this one, but you're the second person I've seen mention it and the music, so it definitely must have something going for it :)

  13. I seem to recall the sequel more. I did see this movie. The songs were very '60s. I've not heard good things about the sequel, but for some reason I liked it.
