Undercover Angel...Alan O'Day, 1977.
A Serenade of Seventies songs, from the soundtrack of my life, is my theme for the A-Z challenge this year.
Oh, come on, admit that this song is tucked away in some dark corner of your brain. That place with the bell bottoms, a comically large comb in your back pocket, giant Gobstoppers, and macrame plant hangers.
I said "What?" She said "Ooh-ooh-ooh whee."
I said "All right!" She said "Love me, love me, love me!"
I never really knew many of the words, or at least not the correct ones. Case in point...
midnight fantasy = midnight Tennessee
Even if I'd had a lyric sheet, I see now that I would not have understood what I was reading. This was not a private detective, undercover police officer type of thing.
Undercover angel, answer to my prayer,
You made me know that there's a love for me out there
Somewhere.
LOL I had completely forgotten about that song. (Yes, I will be singing it all day) But sadly I am wearing skinny jeans today, not bell bottoms (and no giant pocket comb) OMG we all had those because we had to ensure that "stylish" feathered hair stayed in place all day.
ReplyDeleteWhat first came to mind was, "My Angel is a Centerfold", but then I remembered this one too. You're so right about the bell-bottoms, comb and macrame...it's like wer'e the same age (just about - I'm older...)

Yes, I remember this song! Not sure I had the lyrics right, either.

I have no memory of this song, but I believe that I have some macrame around some place...
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not... I have NEVER heard this song before. I don't know how I missed it, but there you go. This song is arriving on my doorstep 30+ years after the fact. Better late than never...
ReplyDeleteI have heard this song before somewhere! Not sure where, but I have heard it! ♥ You are really rattling the cobwebs on this one. LOL
ReplyDeleteHmn..Not sure if I've ever heard this one. But I know about the other songs you've posted :)
ReplyDeleteI recognize the tune, but not the words.
ReplyDeleteThe 70s tunes are real eardrums, for sure. I remember hearing this song as teenager, growing up in Nova Scotia. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that auto-correct! Ear Worms, not ear drums! Geez! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine my life without music. Thankfully I grew up where the melodies and lyrics remain classic.
ReplyDeleteOooooh lawdy......fall of 8th grade flashbacks. lol I think, but am not sure, that I had the 45. It may have been on my list to buy but I got so sick of it due to heavy rotation on the radio.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant A to Z theme :) I'm so delighted to have found your page :) I'd never heard this song before though … I'll have to go back through the others now … oh dear, my Friday is going to be back in the 70s I think lol

I hate to think the month is almost over. LOVE these! May have to make a YouTube playlist outta them so I can revisit the 70's on a regular basis! :)
ReplyDeleteOh. Em. Gee. I LOVED this song! No shit! I used to think it was Midnight Tennessee, too! Which is weird, because that's where that boy from West Virginia ended up.
ReplyDeleteCLASSIC!!! :P
ReplyDeleteThis one is great! I can remember taking macrame class in middle school. I thought that my plant hanger was the sh!t!
ReplyDeleteMissed this one, too! What was I doing in the seventies???
