Queen Bee...Barbra Streisand, 1976.
A Serenade of Seventies songs, from the soundtrack of my life, is my theme for the A-Z challenge this year.
A Star is Born? The movie? You mean there was more than just an incredible soundtrack? I was not old enough back then to partake. Instead, I fabricated my own story from the pictures on the album cover, inserting some version of of myself wherever I saw fit. Kris Kristofferson was so dreamy!
The black, black widow is sittin' in the middle
Of the web, it's the fly she seeks
You may be her lover, but you never will recover
Cause she aint had a bite for weeks
You think you're the same, cause you got the same name
But the widow has a mobile home
Remember what I told you, she got eight arms to hold you
And she's never gonna let you roam
I loved the lyrics to this song and the punch Barbra packed into the delivery of each one.
My favorite part...
So, in conclusion, it's an optical illusion
If you think that we're the weaker race
Men got the muscle, but the ladies got the hustle
And the truth is staring in your face
Love it still!
I did that with the soundtrack to Against All Odds when I was a kid. Interestingly, when I finally saw the movie, I found the version I made up was much better than the real thing!
ReplyDeleteI still haven't seen A Star Is Born, so I don't know if the movie lived up to the soundtrack. Barbra always amazes me with her range and she can hold a note longer than anyone!!!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the movie so I never heard this song. I only remember the hit played on Boston radio, 'Evergreen'.
ReplyDeleteAn interesting collection, indeed.

Barbra! Love her voice so much! I even saw Yentl--that is how much I love her.
ReplyDeleteVery soulful.
ReplyDeleteHow do I not know this song? I'm getting kicked out of the club for sure....

I can't believe I don't know this song!! Was I living under a rock?
ReplyDeleteNot much of a fan of hers as a diva, but I will admit, she can sing.

What a great idea for an A-Z challenge! I hadn't heard of this song before, but we enjoyed watching it. Barbara sure can sing! ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter! <3
I confess, I don't know this one. But the lyrics are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove Streisand! Perfect voice. I loved Jim Croce too. So sad that he died so young. :-(
ReplyDeleteBarbra is an American classic. Her versatility in singing and acting is amazing. I liked her best in The Way We Were with Robert Redford. Kris Kristofferson isn't bad either! :-)
ReplyDeleteStar is born...That came out in the early years of our married life. I cried at the end.
ReplyDeleteI love that movie! And I *heart* Kris Kristofferson so, so much….he's a member of Mensa! Sexy, talented, and smart….LOVE him!
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed to say...this one's new to me, and I have never seen the movie. Guess what's going on my Netflix queue.
ReplyDeleteAnother great choice!
ReplyDeleteHello, gorgeous!
