P is for...

Peace Train...Cat Stevens, 1971

A Serenade of Seventies songs, from the soundtrack of my life, is my theme for the A-Z challenge this year.

Now I've been happy lately
Thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be
Something good has begun

Oh, the voice and the stories. There was this kind of world, a wild world if you will, that Cat Stevens created for himself and invited us in. There is something so seventies about this song, but it is also timeless.

Here I am in 1971...

Get your bags together
Go bring your good friends too
'Cause it's getting nearer
It soon will be with you

  1. Yes! Love, love, LOVE this song. It does always remind me of Remember the Titans though. But yeah, a timeless classic. There is a video on YouTube, I'll try to find it, that is a mix of him performing in 197. . . something and then a current day acoustic version that is really cool. Maybe you came across it? Anyway, perfect pick for P! ;)

    1. Oops, just found it. I misremembered. It's a mix of acoustic and a blues version he does around 2007. Still pretty cool. Here it is:

  2. I forgot how much I liked that song until I played the video. You were just the cutest little thing! All you needed in that pic was a little suitcase and you could have boarded the peace train!

  4. Is it just me... or does he seem like he might on some sort of substance in this concert? He forgot he already introduced the band and he seems exceedingly happy. That said, I still enjoyed the video and song very much. I hadn't heard it in a long time.

  14. OMG, what a cutie patootie!!!! I love your little overalls. My first introduction to this song was when Natalie Merchant did a cover of it. Great song. Timeless, I agree.
