A is for Andrea

Oh, hello there! Did I just set myself up for a month of avoiding housework and other mundane tasks in the name of blogging? You bet I did! I just did all of the laundry in the house, so that should be good for the next twenty-nine days, no? The dust and lame dinner ideas that are going to accumulate should be fantastic.

I had other thoughts of how to use the letter A, like April. April is a bittersweet month for me. In typical years we are bracing up for the sogginess that Mother Nature has to offer. Not a huge fan, and as the month moves on with its dreariness, so do I. It is also the point in the school year where things seem to wrap up. The rest of the year flies by so quickly, and I find myself saddened by what the kids will leave behind. There are also a lot of birthdays in our family this month. My little sister will turn thirty, and my little brother will turn twenty-four. This makes me feel old. In ten days (who's counting), my baby girl will turn twelve. This leaves me to ponder whether it is time to stop referring to her as my baby girl...quick decision...nope.

Anxiety starts with A. Hmmm, do I have anything to say about that? Are you new here? Oh, you might be. If so, welcome! I feel slightly anxious about hosting Easter next weekend. I find it difficult to find a menu that wows anyone (aside from my children) with ham in the leading role. I do find all sorts of side dishes that I would like to make, but then as I look at the guest list, there don't seem to be any possible takers. Instead of worrying about that today, and since the house was clean from having company yesterday, I decided to try my hand at tiling. Yesterdays guests only got the freshly painted fireplace mantle, as this morning I added some glass tile. I feel anxious about grout. Everyone says it is very easy. I am anal, and have a feeling it is not as simple for us folk. I could save that phase of the project for Wednesday when the letter is d...for debacle...or I could muster up some optimism and do it Thursday for Easy!

I am excited to try out this alphabet challenge! (Ok, and maybe anxious...but in a good way.)

  1. Hi, Andrea, it's nice to meet you. Hope the fun of the Challenge is such that the guilt from the lack of housekeeping will be brushed under the carpet.

  3. Stopping by from A-Z Challenge; it is hard to come up with a menu for that would please everyone around your table, maybe have people bring their favorite side dish to accompany the "mandatory" Easter ham? Time does seme to fly, doesn't it? I remember when my kids were young after January ended, the rest of the school year seemed to fly by way too fast. Enjoy the days the best you can; they do grow up too quickly!

    Good luck with the challenge!

  5. Nice to meet you Andrea! Planning Easter can be intimidating...I have a huge family and have not braved to host a holiday yet. When in doubt, allrecipes.com is great, as is sparkrecipes.com (great for people with limited diets). As for your family, have you tried a sign up email? With the pressure of blank spaces and other family members watching, they just might sign up. :)

PS: Thanks for stopping by Life with Arie!

    1. Oh they offer to bring whatever, but I get caught upon what sounds good to me...I think I will just focus on saving room for dessert!

  6. Don't worry about the Wow factor! It's completely ok to serve the exact same thing every year at holidays. It's part of tradition, right?

  7. So, Andrea, can I make a ricotta prosciutto pie for Easter? You didn't seem that excited about the offer when I mentioned it Saturday. And I'd love to help or at least lend support for grouting the tiles on Tuesday, if you can wait that long. M for Mom

  8. Easter dinner is always a tough one for me. I decided to have brunch this year instead. Although it will probably still revolve around ham.
