Randomness

Before I left the house today, I specifically asked that the garbage and other odds and ends on the kitchen counter be picked up. When I returned, the same little piles were winking at me as if they had won. I made a reminder announcement, complete with pointing gestures. The boy enthusiastically replied "Oh, THAT crap? I wasn't sure what you meant." I assured him that, in the future, I would not be disappointed to find that any junk on the counter had been dealt with.

When I walked onto the front porch, I saw this little arrangement...
So now we are camouflaging dirty dishes?
I do not think my niece was the guilty party, but something seems a little shady in her getaway scene.
What's in the purse lady?
Nobody is fessing up to this crime against blue people...
Who hates the Blue Man Group?
The cars are still vrooming, and you will be happy to know that green efforts are being made with the addition of a Prius.
I think this one makes more noise on the track than its real life counterpart does on a highway.
I honestly don't know what a chocolate covered cherry smells like. Indulgent? Maybe? But do I really want to be tempted...to eat the room deodorizer?
Mmmmmm, toxic gel.
Well, the New York State Fair opens across town this week. I read that it was recently named one of the best state fairs. I bet it was in the top 50. (OK, I admit, it was supposedly in the top 5.) In case the usual cast of deep fried food offerings wasn't promising to clog your arteries tight enough, this year there has already been talk of the Big Kahuna Donut Dog. It will be a hot dog wrapped in bacon served in a maple glazed doughnut, instead of a bun. There's no word from the fair on the amount of cholesterol in the meal. (I am pretty sure if you are ordering it, you've left your Weight Watchers' point conversion chart and the low cholesterol diet sheet your doctor gave you at home on the counter.) There is a wine tent at the Fair as well. Speaking of which, make sure to see what randomness Stacy has going on this week!

  3. I saw those dessert-y air fresheners. I'll admit I sniffed them all. They didn't smell bad, per se...but where does one put them? And the odd black and gold packaging is creepy. I can only envision that this is the kind of thing a your average guy on the Jersey Shore puts on his nightstand as he climbs into red and black satin sheets on his 1980's waterbed.

    1. Chicka-wow-wow...yeah, not what I want in an air freshener...I'd rather just bake a batch of cookies!

  4. Mmmmmmm...Big Kahunas. I'm gaining weight just thinking about it! Not too keen on the chocolate air freshener idea. The cat box doesn't need to smell chocolate-y!

That is an adorable picture of your niece, but I'd check that purse for contraband!

    1. My son needs no encouragement to buy the Kahuna...now he will want me to pay for it as a blog expense!

  6. Myy, my, my, my Sharona...er, Kahuna. I would like 4 of those, um, make that a baker's dozen drop-shipped to my humble abode here in Manila. Fried food is why I love state fair's. I always try 1 sample each year, because seriously, I don't want to doe of occlusive artery disease.

By the way, that little dish was put there for the birds.

    1. I did consider that placement of the little bowl, but as it had no food or water, perhaps not a decent alibi! :)

  7. Meet me at the wine tent! Fahget about that coronary in a pile of white flour stuff!

And ew - chocolate scented air fresheners? Talk about subliminal suggestion...' I once had those little scented oil sticks in my house. Was vanilla but everyone SWORE they smelled like sugar cookies baking and I was holding out. Everyone would get a whiff and suddenly crave baked goods. Chocolate air fresheners would not do the body good!

    1. I'd rather just have cookies! Right now our house smells like salsa, but that is better than when I was making the pickles last week!

  8. Time for some awesome fried fair food. Deep fried Oreo anyone?

  9. I just don't think chocolate covered cherry is a good "flavor" for an air freshener.

  10. Your state fair sounds EPIC. I would so try that Kahuna thing. I've decided I'm trying a different fried thing at every fair this year. There are 3. Still 2 to go. The first was pretty disappointing because they only had fried Oreos, and I've had those before. I have high hopes for the next couple fairs.

    1. There is one booth that will deep fry whatever you bring them, but they already have pickles, pizza, pb&j. The newest announcement was the chocolate covered bacon vendor that is there...ugh! We were not impressed by the deep fried kool aid last year...

  11. Guys and junk. Hmph. Never mind. chocolate anything odor would not be good for me. I don't want to smell something that has the potential to make me hungry! And locally, we have a restaurant that sells cheeseburgers with bacon on a donut bun, so I guess the "ignore diet" sign is open in more than one area!
