52 Weeks of Happiness - Week 18

The hydrangeas here in Cape Cod make me so happy every year. They grow like regular old shrubs do at home...These balls of color are so much prettier! I am also happy that I could go outside to enjoy the flowers without melting!

Lilies need love too!
I will have the hydrangea blues when it is time to leave, but for now they make me very happy!

Stop by Leigh's place to see what's making other people happy this week!

  1. I LOVE hydrangeas! They don't grow out here in CA, I think they must need a cold, dormant season. A drag. Have fun in Cape Cod!

  5. I'm not a gardener. I don't know much about green stuff. So when we moved into our new house, I complained about the ugly bush on the front lawn. This year, the ugly bush burst into glorious bright pink bloom. I'm so glad we didn't cut it down!!!

  8. Pretty much EVERYONE on the cape has one of these bushes. The only bad thing is that they attract massive amounts of bees & hornets.

  10. Gorgeous!

I never knew that the different types of soil produce the different colors (has something to do with the acidity of the soil). When we lived in CA and were getting ready to put our house on the market, I hired a gardener to put in a few hydrangeas for us in front, you know, curb appeal. I am mortified looking back, because I distinctly remember telling him to buy some white, some blue, and some purple (not knowing that they were all the same). He kept his thoughts to himself and said, "Sure, no problem."

    best,
    MOV
