52 Weeks of Happiness-Week 1

As I sat eating breakfast the other day, I wondered what I would be able to photograph for my first week joining in the 52 Weeks of Happiness fun with Leigh vs Laundry. Then I saw this piece of my son's viola music sitting in the middle of the table. Listening to both of my children play their string instruments makes me so happy. Next week is the huge district orchestra concert where all of the string things from grade four right on up join for one huge concert. The finale is a song that they all play together. I get goose bumps and cry a little...it makes me so happy!

  2. That is so very cool! I was never dexterous enough to play an instrument, so I was always slightly envious of those who could. I'll bet that you will be bursting with pride!

    1. I wouldn't hold your breath on that one mom! We'll just have to take it all in at the concerts, I think! :)

  6. Oh, I know JUST what you mean. When I see a bunch of kids singing in a chorus or playing instruments, I can get a little emotional. After seven years, my daughter gave up the violin a year ago. *sniff sniff*

  7. My daughter played the cello starting in 4th grade. The best concert was the one where all the high school orchestras played together. Amazing.

  8. Awwwwww! This post gave me goosebumps! :) Princess Nagger is learning to play the violin - but for some reason she declined being a part of the upcoming spring concert. Could be because she's not been consistent with her practice (also could be the teacher hasn't taught them actual full-length songs - just notes). :) I guess that must be common for third graders, maybe... :)

HMMM 52 Weeks of Happiness sounds fun, I might need to check it out. Who am I kidding, I would probably drop out after two weeks or I would post 52 cups of coffee! Coffee makes me HAPPY!

  11. Kids and music is a perfect combo! I watched the Olympics opening ceremony yesterday and I was so thrilled to see that they included so many kids in such a big event. Kids were singing, playing instruments, and just playing - it was delightful so see and hear them! I love that you captured the music!

  12. That is awesome to hear them play. My daughter's song was Ode to Joy. when ever I can find it, it's my ringtone for her. Back when she was in band... years ago... at one of her concerts, my hub and I watched proudly. During a break, he started motioning to her. And she motioned back. It was a sort of game they played for a bit. Two or three waves. a couple of finger twirls. she was really following his lead and then.... a pick the booger and wipe it on your arm. Yes. She did it. and the entire auditorium cracked up. she was first chair clarinet.
