52 Weeks of Happiness - Week 16

This is a peek into our game closet.
Most of the junior versions of games have now been replaced with regular ones, but some we hang on to just for sentimental reasons. The question never used to be whether we would play a game, rather which one(s) it would be. As the kids get older, it is difficult sometimes to lure them away from all things electrified.

I was so happy this week when board games started making their way off the shelves. There was so much laughter among friends. Eventually the husband and I got called on to play as well. Never mind the fact that on some occasions we were just seat fillers for the required number of players. I was still happy to be at the table.
It made me happy to see the developing senses of humor that both children have. So much giggling...from me especially!

Stop by Leigh's place to see where other people found happiness this week!

    1. With a three year age difference (kids) there were a few tough times when we weren't all at the same level (the age diff between hubs and I doesn't explain much)

  5. I agree about the outrageously excellent quality of your games closet! I think this will be the summer when I teach Jude to play cards. My Mama was something of a gin/spades/hearts shark. She loved playing with me and my girlfriends, and she never let us win. She was too competetive!

    1. Sometimes I forget about regular old cards! We have so many Gamewright "card" games that we love, but we did teach the kids crazy 8's, double solitaire and rummy

    1. We loved that game so much, we were thrilled when the kids were old enough to play. We had 3 versions ( 7+, 9+ and adult) I think there is even a younger kids one now, or Disney.

  7. That's so great! I love playing Apples to Apples, but my favorite game is Balderdash. My kids are finally getting old enough to play the games I enjoy. :) Now to get my husband on board! Actually, he's more of a games person than I am - but we just like different games. For instance, he thinks Apples to Apples is designed to drive men crazy. ha ha!

  14. I recently experienced Harry Potter Clue and I both want to recommend it and warn against it. At first you think it is just regular Clue, you know Snape In the Common Room with the Wand, which would be hard enough, but no it is this insanely complicated board with changing rooms, multiple decks of cards, and tons of flue powder tokens. Wife and I had my brother and his girlfriend over for dinner and Harry Potter Clue and some cocktails so by the end of it we were all terrible confused and the game instructions were highlighted... So I recommend it, but only if a couple cocktails accompany it... And your game closet is awesome!!!! Wife and I still love board and card games, in fact we have been keeping track of our gin rummy score since we dated, I am ahead, for now...
